Wynn will be an ‘inflection point’ for Ras Al Khaimah, says tourism boss

Ras Al Khaimah's tourism industry is set to experience a significant boost with the impending arrival of the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort, valued at over $5 billion. The development, slated for September 2027, is expected to attract considerable international attention to the emirate. However, Phillipa Harrison, the chief executive of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, emphasizes that Wynn is merely a crucial component of a larger strategic plan.

The tourism authority has been working towards the goal of welcoming 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030, and Harrison credits the recent surge in domestic tourism for the emirate's record performance in the first half of 2026. The upcoming arrival of international luxury brands like Nobu, Janu, The Unexpected, and Four Seasons will further enhance the emirate's appeal.

To ensure that the growth in hotel rooms and attractions is matched by increased visitor demand, Harrison stresses the importance of maintaining Ras Al Khaimah's distinctive identity. The tourism authority aims to offer a variety of escape options within the destination, from climbing mountains to relaxing on beaches. Harrison also highlights the significance of developing experiences beyond the hotels and believes that the emirate's success lies in striking a balance between expansion and preserving its unique charm.
