Wolves and Albion issue warning over derby disorder

Wolves and West Bromwich Albion have warned fans ahead of their upcoming league match that severe repercussions await any supporters involved in violence or disorder. Following a 2024 FA Cup game where the clubs witnessed 43 arrests, 12 charges leading to sentencing, and five permanent bans, the two teams have pledged to maintain strict security measures for their upcoming Championship encounter at Molineux.

During the 2022 FA Cup meeting, police were attacked, missiles were thrown, and flares were set off, resulting in a 38-minute suspension of play. Ahead of Sunday's match, Wolves and Albion have announced intensified stewarding, increased policing, stringent ticketing controls, and additional safety measures.

The clubs emphasized that the 2024 Cup match's outcomes clearly demonstrated that disorder, violence, and criminal behavior will face significant consequences, both from the clubs and the police. Following the match, Wolves emerged victorious, marking the first time the clubs had faced each other in front of fans since 2012.

The clubs collaborated closely with the Safety Advisory Group, local authorities, and police to ensure proper arrangements for the upcoming Championship game, set to commence at 12:00 BST. Fans were reminded that engaging in violence, discriminatory actions, entering pitch or trackside areas, throwing missiles, using pyrotechnics, or breaking ground regulations could lead to arrest, prosecution, football banning orders, and long-term or permanent exclusion from their respective clubs.

Fans were urged to utilize tickets purchased through official channels and to remain in their designated home or away areas. Should fans attempt to access or occupy incorrect areas, they risk denial of entry, ejection, and further sanctions. The clubs also requested fans to arrive punctually to facilitate security searches and stadium entry procedures, comply with steward and police instructions, and report any unsafe, discriminatory, or anti-social behavior.
