Why I joined SDP at 19 – Presidential candidate

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party presidential candidate, recounted his journey into politics during a recent visit by members of the Young Progressive Professionals to the SDP's national secretariat in Abuja. In 1991, while a law student at the University of Ife, Adebayo joined the party after studying its manifesto and seeing it as a viable alternative to the political parties created by the military government at the time.

His first assignment in the party was pasting political posters across Lagos, an experience he saw as part of growing through the ranks. Adebayo urged young professionals to take responsibility for the country's future and become potential leaders such as national chairmen, senators, or presidential candidates. He also criticized the government for the country's poverty, insecurity, unemployment, and inadequate electricity, urging Nigerians to not lose hope and work together to solve the nation's problems.
