Dubai - The 2024 Tamil crime thriller Maharaja is set to receive a Hollywood remake, marking the first Tamil film to receive such treatment by a major Hollywood studio. The news was confirmed by Sudhan Sundaram, the film's producer, who revealed that the remake interest emerged following Maharaja's strong box office performance in China and solid streaming numbers.

Sudhan informed that the Hollywood agency is now working to secure an A-list star for the remake, with production expected to commence next year. The producers announced this historic milestone on their own social media, drawing an enthusiastic response from fans. While the identity of Matthew McConaughey as the potential lead remains unconfirmed, the film's director and lead actor, Vijay Sethupathi, were credited for the achievement.
