Verbraucher: Bargeldlos zahlen: Mehrheit wünscht sich mehr Möglichkeiten

A majority of people desire more options for cashless payments, particularly in restaurants, supermarkets, and retail stores. According to a YouGov survey, 72% of respondents believe that cashless payment should be an option in restaurants, while 71% desire cashless payments in supermarkets and 66% in retail stores. Overlapping responses were allowed in the survey.

Over 60% of respondents also mentioned wanting cashless payment options in parking lots, airports, and train stations. The desire for cashless payment was lowest at festivals, weekly markets, and flea markets, with only 35% of respondents expressing a need for it. Eight percent of respondents indicated they did not need cashless payment options at any of the listed places.

Approval of cashless payment methods has been rising since YouGov conducted the same survey at the beginning of 2025. Since then, approval ratings have increased by several percentage points in all mentioned categories. In 2025, only 67% of respondents wanted cashless payment in restaurants and 66% in supermarkets. This year's survey had three times the participation of 2025, with over 3,600 respondents.
