USC freshman WR Trent Mosley out for Big Ten opener at Rutgers with injury

Southern California freshman wide receiver Trent Mosley will miss his team's upcoming Big Ten game against Rutgers due to an undisclosed injury, according to USC coach Lincoln Riley. Mosley, a four-star recruit from Santa Margarita Catholic High School in California, had been USC's standout freshman performer, amassing 13 receptions for 255 yards and four touchdowns in his first three games.

He recorded consecutive games with over 100 receiving yards and added an impressive 86-yard punt return touchdown in a 49-30 victory over Louisiana. Riley stated that Mosley's absence is currently inconclusive, but expects the situation to resolve itself relatively quickly. The Big Ten has recently implemented a requirement for teams to report player statuses four times per week for all conference games, a measure aimed at addressing concerns related to gambling and other issues within the sport.
