He believed the timing indicated a deliberate attempt to influence the elections. Blanche's statements were unusual, as recent AI warnings have been issued by leading industry figures such as Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google DeepMind. Alex Saab, a former business associate of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, admitted to money laundering in connection with a Venezuelan social program for food and medicine.

According to U.S. officials, Saab enriched himself through the program and faces up to 20 years in prison. He is also required to return $195 million and cooperate with U.S. authorities. FBI Director Kash Patel defended changes to FBI hiring rules at a Senate committee, stating that individuals with a history of prostitution or animal sexual abuse could still be considered for the job under certain circumstances.

Patel explained that the changes aimed to prevent victims of human trafficking or forced sexual acts from being automatically disqualified. The new rules did not lower overall hiring standards, as the FBI still intended to exclude certain applicants, including those involved in prostitution within the past decade.
