Universal says it plans to release the documentary Elon Musk hates in theaters

Comcast's Universal unit has confirmed plans to release an Elon Musk documentary called "Musk" in theaters outside the United States. The independent film, directed by Alex Gibney, is highly critical of the tech mogul and has been a subject of controversy. A recent report in The Hollywood Reporter suggested that Universal was reconsidering its release strategy due to political sensitivities surrounding the documentary and its ties to former President Donald Trump.

However, a Universal spokesperson has refuted these claims, stating that the studio remains committed to releasing the film internationally. The documentary features an AI-generated version of Musk, trained on all available interviews he has given. It is set to premiere in US theaters on October 9 through distributor Bleecker Street.

Universal has not disclosed a timeline for its international rollout. The movie's release has sparked discussions about media companies' potential concessions to Trump, particularly amid the ongoing investigations into Comcast's relationships with the Trump administration.
