Tuanku Muhriz pulang ke istana, mahu selesai kemelut

Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, returned to the palace in Malaysia tonight, seeking to conclude the turmoil surrounding his position. Upon landing at Terminal 1 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) from Dubai, Tuanku Muhriz expressed gratitude for the support he received. "I want to thank you for the strong support," he said.

When asked if he would return to the palace, he replied, "Back to the palace, where else would I go?" He added, "Yes, God willing, God willing, I appreciate everyone." His return came amidst increasing unrest regarding his position as Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, with around 300 supporters attending KLIA to demonstrate their backing.

On Sunday, the State Council of Exco in Negeri Sembilan declared the proclamation of Tuanku Muhriz's abdication on April 19 as valid and recognized Tuanku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar as the new Yang Dipertuan Besar. The Chief Minister, Ismail Lasim, confirmed this decision today by a unanimous vote and instructed the state government to continue the legal proceedings.

However, the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Department (DKU) argued that the exco's decision lacked legal validity as the state government does not have the authority to determine the Yang Dipertuan Besar's position, while confirming that Tuanku Muhriz would remain as the state government leader. The latest update today saw the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) stating that the exco's announcement regarding Tuanku Muhriz's position does not have legal effect.

The AGC also said that the exco lacked the authority under the State Institution Act 1959 to make such a proclamation, and performing any action or implementing the proclamation would be deemed invalid and unconstitutional.
