Trump threatens to end trade with Mexico and Europe after rate hike

In a briefing at the Interior Ministry at 10:30, Anutin revealed that Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun had reported that the negotiations with the United States were nearing completion, stating, "Nearly everything has been addressed. There is a minimal amount left."

Anutin elaborated further, explaining that he would delve into the specifics with Suphajee on 18 September. He characterized the negotiations as advancing in a favorable trajectory. When queried about the possibility of a direct line communication with Trump, Anutin revealed that Thai and US trade deputies were at a juncture where an exchange between the two leaders could assist in addressing the residual concerns.

Should this opportunity arise, Anutin declared that he would bring up Thailand's fulfillment of commitments under the joint Thailand-Cambodia declaration, encompassing actions such as landmine clearance and the targeting of fraudulent networks. He added that he would also inquire about an earlier implication that Thailand could be granted a unique consideration regarding its tariff rate.

"We have completed everything you mentioned — clearing landmines and combating scam networks," Anutin remarked, citing Trump's prior statements. "I will inquire if Thailand will benefit from this."
