Tinubu’s ex-campaign spokesman reveals real reason APC govs are against Wike

Denge Josef Onoh, a former spokesman for President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 campaign in the South-East region, has disclosed the underlying cause of the clashes between some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike. In a statement released on Thursday, Onoh stated that the disagreement stems from Wike's history of political confrontations and the use of political structures to challenge opponents.

He argued that Wike's political career has been marked by intense political battles and the utilization of political machinery to oppose adversaries. Onoh further explained that Wike's behavior persisted even in his current role within the APC-led Federal Government. He traced Wike's political journey back to his time as chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, a position he held between 1999 and 2007.

During this period, Wike later became Chief of Staff to then Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, where he played a crucial role in managing the state's political structure. Onoh also discussed Wike's appointment as a Minister of State for Education under former President Goodluck Jonathan. He noted that Wike was a significant player in the political rivalry between the Jonathan administration and Amaechi during that time.

Additionally, Wike was involved in the political struggle leading up to the 2015 elections in Rivers State.
