Sumo: Kotozakura suffers 1st loss as Aonishiki beaten for 2nd straight day

At the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament, Kotozakura suffered his first loss, dropping his otherwise perfect record after five days of winning. Competing against Churanoumi, the 4-1 Kotozakura could not handle the low-angled opening drive and ultimately lost the push-out. However, Ozeki Aonishiki was also defeated on the second day, marking a second consecutive loss for the 3-2 wrestler. The Ukrainian star failed to capitalize on an explosive initial drive from Gonoyama (2-3) and was bulldozed out of the ring.

Yokozuna Onosato bounced back to the lead after falling in the previous day's match, using a right underarm belt hold to force out No. 2 maegashira Yoshinofuji (0-5). Kirishima (4-1) struggled early in his bout against Takanosho (3-2) but managed to push his opponent out after moving toward the left and backpedaling. Sekiwake Atamifuji maintained his composure in his match against Daieisho (1-4), utilizing his larger frame to push the komusubi multiple times before ousting him off the ring.

To reach the rank of yokozuna, Kirishima needs a championship-caliber performance at the ongoing 15-day meet. Sekiwake Atamifuji still needs 12 wins this month to be considered for promotion, as he must accumulate a total of 33 wins across three consecutive meets. New sekiwake Fujinokawa (3-2) emerged victorious in a fierce battle with new komusubi Hakunofuji (1-4), securing a push-out win.
