Stray Dogs, Fighting Bulls Take Over Streets As Residents Fear Attacks In MP’s Ashta

Ashta, a city in Madhya Pradesh, is grappling with a growing problem of stray dogs and cattle roaming the streets. Residents are increasingly concerned about the frequent dog attacks and incidents involving fighting bulls. According to locals, two to three dog-bite cases are reported at hospitals daily. Stray dogs tend to gather in packs, especially during the morning and evening, creating a threat to pedestrians, children, and the elderly.

On Wednesday, media worker Sayyad Abrar Ali was reportedly surrounded by stray dogs near Manas Bhawan and was bitten by one. Media worker Babu Sisodia has suffered dog bites twice while delivering newspapers.

Residents have also reported incidents in Sai Colony, where a girl was surrounded and bitten by a pack of stray dogs, and near the Jain Temple in the Qila area, where an elderly man was allegedly attacked by a pack of 10-12 dogs. Similar complaints have come from Budhwara and other localities. Stray bulls have caused damage to vehicles and posed a risk to pedestrians, prompting residents to demand a citywide drive to capture stray dogs and cattle.

Municipal Council President Hemkunwar Rai Singh Mewada and CMO Vinod Kumar Prajapati stated that periodic drives to capture stray dogs and cattle have been conducted, and assured of appropriate action in the matter. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav honored engineers, stating that their talent transforms development ideas into reality in Bhopal.
