Stow MA welcomes Masters Academy campus built for elite athletes

Masters Academy International, a boarding and day school exclusively for student-athletes, recently opened its new campus in Stow, Massachusetts. The $83 million project on the former Bose Corp. property on Great Road transformed an 82-acre site into an academic and athletic training facility.

John JT Toole, chair of the Stow Select Board, described the academy as a launchpad for human potential, emphasizing its unique combination of grit, intellect, passion, and purpose. The school integrates five hours of daily classroom instruction with four hours of sports training, allowing students to accumulate over 2,880 hours of sport-specific training from grades 6-12.

Founders Chris and Peter Masters aimed to prevent students from having to choose between academic excellence and pursuing their athletic passions. The school will initially offer various sports, including baseball, basketball, golf, fencing, figure skating, lacrosse, hockey, and soccer.

Governor Maura Healey and other officials, including Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll and state legislators, praised the partnership between the academy, town officials, and the state. The academy currently enrolls about 300 student-athletes in grades 6-12, including those committed to Division I programs like Harvard, Penn, and Rutgers. As the largest taxpayer in Stow, the academy is providing tax relief for local property owners.
