Simhastha 2028 In Ujjain 1,884 Cyber Warriors Train To Protect Devotees From Online Frauds

Indore, Madhya Pradesh (India) witnessed the commencement of preparations to bolster cybersecurity during the grand annual event called Simhastha in Ujjain. In this context, aspiring cyber defenders from colleges in Indore and Ujjain are being groomed as Cyber Warriors. Thus far, 1,884 students from 33 colleges have been onboarded into the program, comprising 1,113 students from 20 colleges in Indore and 771 from 13 colleges in Ujjain.

Police officials under the Cyber Cell, Sabyasachi Saraf, have cautioned that the influx of devotees during Simhastha could attract cybercriminals exploiting vulnerabilities such as fake hotel and dharamshala booking sites, taxi bookings, fraudulent links, QR codes, online payment scams, and social media manipulations. Moreover, mishandling of mobile phones and personal data is a significant concern.

The students will be equipped with the know-how to recognize typical cyber fraud tactics, dubious websites and links, and will learn about secure digital payments and social media safety measures. They will also be educated on the necessary actions to undertake post a cyber fraud incident. DSP Subhash Singh hinted that these Cyber Warriors could be deployed for awareness and assistance duties during the event.

The Cyber Cell aims to expand this initiative by enrolling more colleges and students, with the goal of training over 2,000 Cyber Warriors. Ganesh Chaturthi 2026: Collector Shivam Verma inaugurated the 12-day festival at the Khajrana Ganesh Temple in Indore.
