Shettima clarifies comment on 6 Northern governors supporting Tinubu

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has clarified his earlier comment regarding the support of six Northern governors for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The clarification came during the turbaning ceremony of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq by the Emir of Ilorin. In a statement, Shettima explained that his reference to the six governors was specifically about political consultations and alliances prior to the APC presidential primary held in June 2022.

He emphasized that this was not a statement on the governors' position following Tinubu's emergence as the party's candidate, nor was it meant to challenge their support during the 2023 presidential election. Shettima praised the northern governors, along with other APC leaders, for their significant contributions to the party's success and President Tinubu's victory in the 2023 general election.

He expressed regret over any misinterpretation of his remarks and urged the Nigerian media to maintain accuracy and context in reporting public statements as the country prepares for another political season.
