Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Centre’s Arabic courses benefit many abroad

Doha reports that over 75 individuals are gaining proficiency in Arabic through courses offered by the Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Cultural Islamic Centre in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Tatarstan. This initiative aligns with Qatar's commitment to promoting Arabic globally and fostering cultural and civilizational understanding.

The centre, operating under the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, initiated the programmes in September, aiming to teach Arabic to non-native speakers while exposing them to Islamic culture and values. The courses are being held at the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and at several master's institutions in Tatarstan.

In Bosnia, 36 students are enrolled in Level 1A and 1B, focusing on developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Similarly, in Tatarstan, around 40 master's students in their first and second years participate, with the curriculum tailored to their linguistic abilities to enhance Arabic proficiency for academic and cultural purposes.

The courses are led by seasoned instructors from the centre, who possess extensive expertise in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. They employ advanced teaching methodologies that cater to the diverse linguistic backgrounds and learning needs of the participants.

The centre emphasizes that Arabic, as the language of the Holy Quran, is a vital instrument for human knowledge and a conduit for cultural and civilizational dialogue. By offering these programs, the centre underscores that learning Arabic transcends language acquisition, granting participants access to Islamic culture and its principles of moderation, tolerance, and coexistence. This approach aims to strengthen bridges of communication and mutual understanding among diverse societies.

With a history of conducting Arabic language programs in various countries including Bosnia, Mauritius, Cambodia, and Tatarstan, the centre has also hosted students from universities and academic institutions in Türkiye, India, Tatarstan, and multiple regions of the Russian Federation for specialized educational and cultural experiences in Qatar.

These efforts have enabled numerous learners to acquire Arabic, enabling them to apply their skills in academic, cultural, and outreach endeavors, thereby bolstering the centre's international footprint and supporting Qatar's strategic goals of promoting Islamic culture and fostering sustainable cultural partnerships.
