Sept 18 school holiday: Where are schools closed?
September 18, 2026 is not a nationwide school holiday in India. School schedules vary by state and individual institutions, so it's important for students and parents to check their specific school's notice.
In West Bengal, the government has moved Vishwakarma Puja from September 17 to September 18, affecting state government offices and schools covered by the state holiday notification. Students in West Bengal can expect a school holiday on Friday.
In Maharashtra, September 18 is not separately listed as a state public holiday. However, schools following the reported Ganeshotsav break from September 14 to September 20 are expected to remain closed. Parents should verify their child's school's holiday calendar, as some institutions may follow a different schedule.
Other states, such as Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, are not mentioned to have any holiday on September 18, 2026. As always, students and parents are advised to double-check their school's official communication for the most accurate information before planning activities for the day.
