Senior Nursing Officer remanded for two weeks in connection with ‘Ghana Jollof’ TikTok

On September 13, Salomey Awity Baffoe, a 40-year-old Senior Nursing Officer from Hansua in the Techiman Municipality, was arrested by National Security operatives at around 11:30 p.m. She was taken from her residence by three men who identified themselves as National Security operatives. Baffoe's family was unable to locate her, as both the local police command and regional National Security officials claimed to have no record of the operation.

Baffoe has been remanded into custody by the Adenta Circuit Court 1 for a two-week period in connection with her alleged involvement in the controversial TikTok account, Ghana Jollof. Her legal counsel, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, questioned the grounds for her continued detention. Awuah pointed out that state authorities had informed the court that the individual behind the Ghana Jollof account was currently residing in the United Kingdom.

Awuah stated, “Because you want to arrest Ghana Jollof, you have remanded her for two weeks. Meanwhile, you told the court that Ghana Jollof is in the UK.”

The investigation targets individuals linked to the Ghana Jollof TikTok account, which is known for its harsh criticism of government officials. Despite the lack of evidence of Baffoe's alleged involvement, she remains in custody as authorities investigate further.
