QDE joins global jewellery body CIBJO

The Qatar Diamond Exchange (QDE) has joined the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO), the international industry’s leading representative and standards-setting body. This move broadens QDE’s standing from the diamond trade to encompass the wider jewellery, gemstone, and precious metals sectors. CIBJO, established in 1926 and based in Milan and Bern, comprises national jewellery associations, trade organisations, and companies involved in the industry, from mining to retail.

It holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). QDE’s membership in CIBJO will involve participation in sectoral commissions, contributing to standards, terminology, and disclosure practices governing the jewellery and gemstone trade globally. QDE Director Ghanim Nasser Al Saadi expressed that the association highlights Qatar’s commitment to international standards and responsible trade, aligning with the exchange’s mission to support the broader scope of the industry.

CIBJO President Dr Gaetano Cavalieri welcomed QDE’s addition, emphasizing the confederation’s dedication to advancing international standards and responsible trade.
