Pune Collector Jitendra Dudi Orders Action Plans For Chakan Traffic, Roads & Parking

Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi convened a high-level meeting to devise action plans for addressing traffic congestion, rising industrial vehicle traffic, potholes and unauthorized parking in the Chakan area. Dudi emphasized the necessity for phased implementation of permanent solutions and outlined several key areas for improvement.

These include enhancing traffic management at major junctions, creating alternative routes for heavy vehicles, organizing parking facilities, and employing modern technology for traffic regulation.

Immediate repairs to potholes on connecting roads, including those in Chakan, Talegaon, Borate Vasti, and Bhosari, were mandated to ensure road fitness for traffic. Pending road projects under the Public Works Department (PWD) were directed to be prioritized and completed within the stipulated time frame, while road works under the Zilla Parishad also required review and necessary repairs.

The use of artificial intelligence-based technology for traffic management was discussed. Dudi instructed officials to utilize surveillance cameras at major junctions not only for monitoring traffic but also to take direct action against motorists violating traffic rules. Authorities were directed to provide traffic police with both fixed and mobile surveillance cameras where necessary.

A separate survey of major junctions, including Chakan Chowk, would be conducted to analyze traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Based on the technical assessment, authorities would explore measures like elevated pedestrian crossings, underpasses, traffic islands, and safer turning arrangements. Pune residents also voiced concerns regarding roads, traffic, and infrastructure at the meeting, attended by MLA Babaji Kale, Resident Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam, and officials from various departments including MIDC, PWD, NHAI, traffic police, and local administration.
