PTI leaders, workers among 150 booked for ‘rioting, attack on police’ in Narowal

NAROWAL: Police have registered charges against 150 individuals, primarily PTI leaders and Sialkot workers, for allegedly opening fire on a police team, assaulting officers, throwing stones, defying Section 144, and committing acts of terrorism. The FIR alleges that during the incident, a police constable sustained injuries and the window of a police van was shattered.

Inspector Basharat Ali reported that he observed a procession of 100-150 people, armed with automatic weapons, clubs, iron rods, and stones, chanting slogans supporting the PTI and opposing the government. The procession attacked a police team with clubs, iron rods, and stones, while armed individuals opened fire with modern weapons.

Constable Hamid Ali was critically injured and taken to a hospital. The protesters also damaged public and private property. Acting on the complaint, Kotwali police filed an FIR against 27 named suspects, including PTI leaders Umar Dar, Saeed Bhalli, Jamshed, and others, along with 100-150 unidentified individuals. The charges include terrorism, violating Section 144, hindering official duties, assaulting a police team, damaging public and private property, and attempted murder.

Police are conducting raids to apprehend the suspects. DPO Dost Muhammad emphasized that no individual or group would be allowed to engage in terrorism, incite unrest, or disturb the peace, and that strict legal action would be taken against those responsible for attacking the police and causing property damage.
