President Sheikh Mohamed receives Senegal leader Bassirou Diomaye Faye in Abu Dhabi

President Sheikh Mohamed of the United Arab Emirates hosted a working visit from Senegal's President Bassirou Diomaye Faye in Abu Dhabi. The two leaders sought to strengthen bilateral ties across investment, trade, and development during their talks. President Faye arrived in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, and Sheikh Mohamed expressed hope that the discussions would further cooperation between the two nations.

They explored various areas of UAE-Senegal relations, identifying opportunities to enhance ties in investment, the economy, and development, aligning with their shared goals for long-term growth.

A significant focus of the meeting was the 2026 UN Water Conference, to be co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal in Abu Dhabi from December 8-10. Given the challenges posed by increasing populations, urbanization, and climate change on global freshwater supplies, Sheikh Mohamed and Mr. Faye emphasized water security as a crucial development priority for their countries and the global community. They reaffirmed their shared vision on water-related issues.

During the discussions, the two sides also exchanged views on various regional and international matters of mutual concern. Sheikh Mohamed confirmed the UAE's commitment to building development partnerships across Africa, with Senegal being part of the Emirates' long-standing approach to fostering progress and prosperity on the continent.
