Polis siasat Noorazli berkait ucapan di PAU 2026

Pahlawan Umno Sepang, Noorazli Said, is currently under investigation by the police for touching upon religious sensitivities during his speech at the PAU 2026. The head of the Criminal Branch of the Criminal Investigation Department (CBCID), M Kumar, revealed that the case is being investigated under Section 298 of the Offenses Against Religion Act and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

As of now, the police have received 86 complaints related to the issue, along with 93 witnesses who have recorded their statements.

According to Kumar, all 93 witnesses include civilians, PAU organizers, and Umno representatives, including the suspects. The investigative report will be submitted to the Attorney-General's Chambers on September 18, 2026, for further instructions and guidance. Section 298 of the Offenses Against Religion Act prescribes a sentence of up to one year in prison, a fine, or both if someone is found to intentionally wound religious sentiments of others.

On the other hand, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 prescribes a fine of up to RM500,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both for the wrongful use of communication facilities or services.

The police also advised the public not to speculate or spread unverified information that may interfere with the investigation process. Earlier this week, Noorazli faced accusations of 'fabrication' in his PAU speech about a father and midwife, leading to police reports against him. Besides Umno Deputy Youth Leader Dr Akmal Saleh, Umno Sabah Deputy Treasurer Salleh Said Keruak, and Tuaran MP Wilfred Madius Tangau, demanded an apology from Noorazli.

On September 14, the Umno faction head claimed he had already apologized if his remarks caused any misunderstanding or offended anyone's sentiments. Later that day, he updated his Facebook page to express his sincere apologies, instead of stating he had 'already apologized'.
