Peter Amidu Acquah completes move to Romanian side Unirea Alba Iulia after Asante Kotoko exit

Former Asante Kotoko forward Peter Amidu Acquah has officially signed with Romanian club CSM Unirea Alba Iulia. The 20-year-old Ghanaian winger departed the Ivorian outfit at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season after his contract concluded. Kotoko disclosed in early 2026 that Acquah was among 14 first-team members who exited the club, following the expiry of his deal.

Unirea Alba Iulia, who play in the Romanian Liga III, welcomed Acquah to their ranks, marking his first professional experience outside of Ghana. According to Romanian publication Ziarul Unirea, the move makes him the club's 26th acquisition. Acquah joined Asante Kotoko in 2023 from PAC Academy, after catching the eye during a trial with the Porcupine Warriors.

He agreed to a three-year deal and joined the team with aspirations for the 2023/24 season. As his career progressed, Acquah became an integral part of the Kotoko first team, contributing with four league goals in 26 appearances during the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season. One of his memorable goals came in March 2024 when he scored a stoppage-time first-half strike against Bibiani Gold Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium, securing a 1-0 win for Kotoko.

Acquah's departure from Kotoko was part of a broader squad restructuring before the start of the 2026/27 campaign. The club announced six players, including Acquah, leaving following the expiry of their contracts. He will now seek to make his mark in Romania as Unirea Alba Iulia pursue their Liga III campaign.
