Pastor Remanded Over Alleged GH¢1.56m Security Jobs Scam

The Dansoman Circuit Court has remanded Noah Asare, also known as Agya Noah, for allegedly defrauding over 80 people of GH¢1.56 million under the pretense of securing their employment in Ghana's security services, according to prosecutors. The court case, which began on Wednesday, was brought forth by Police Inspector Esther Mensah and is presided over by His Honour Denis Eyram Fumey. The court did not accept Asare's plea due to ongoing investigations and adjourned the case to September 30, 2026.

Asare, a pastor residing in Anyaa, Accra, is accused of representing that he had connections to senior government officials and access to protocol slots for recruitment into various security agencies, including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Immigration Service, and Ghana National Fire Service. Bernice Ekutor, a trader from Kumasi, reportedly became entangled in the recruitment scheme when Asare met her in October 2025 and introduced himself as a pastor who could secure her a top government job.

Asare allegedly informed her that he had over 100 slots and instructed her to pay GH¢25,000 per applicant for positions in the Ghana Armed Forces and Immigration Service, and GH¢20,000 for roles in the Police and Fire Services.

According to the prosecution, Ekutor collected sums ranging from GH¢20,000 to GH¢25,000 from 78 individuals, totaling GH¢1.56 million. These payments were allegedly made to Asare for facilitating the recruitment process. On May 11, 2026, Asare reportedly provided Ekutor with a contact at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, instructing her to gather 84 applicants for medical screening.

Ekutor was directed to collect GH¢1,500 from each applicant as a medical fee, which she forwarded to a contact introduced to her by Asare as Dr Sarpong. Subsequently, she allegedly collected GH¢50,000 from these applicants, who were subsequently directed to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for medical screening.

Asare reportedly admitted to receiving GH¢130,000 during his caution statement but claimed that the total amount was less than the GH¢1.56 million alleged by the police. Investigations are ongoing, and Asare remains on remand until his next court appearance on September 30, 2026.
