Pakistani Freelancers Earn $352 Million In First 2 Months of FY2026-27

During the first two months of fiscal year 2026-27, Pakistan's freelancers earned $352 million in export earnings, marking a 44 percent increase from $244 million during the same period last year, according to data from the State Bank of Pakistan. IT-related freelancers contributed $212 million, while non-IT freelancers contributed $139 million.

Chairman of the Pakistan Freelancers Association, Ibrahim Amin, stated to ProPakistani that Pakistani freelancers are expanding their presence on international platforms, leading to the impressive increase in export receipts. He highlighted that freelancers are rapidly acquiring in-demand skills, especially in artificial intelligence, and often work in teams on multiple services through agencies registered on these global platforms.

Amin attributed the growth to the efforts of the government, private sector, and non-governmental organizations in providing IT and skills development courses across various cities to equip young people with market-oriented skills alongside their academic qualifications. He expressed optimism that freelancers' contributions to the national economy could further rise, with their overall earnings potentially reaching $2.5 billion by the end of the current financial year.

With an estimated 3 million freelancers providing digital and online services in Pakistan, the country's freelancing industry appears poised for continued expansion and success.
