Onyonka explains Natembeya-Amisi rivalry, links split to Sifuna’s rise

Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka has stated that the Linda Mwananchi movement will persist, regardless of whether Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna remains a part of the political group, despite attempts to infiltrate its ranks and undermine its members. Speaking on a radio show on September 17, 2026, Onyonka highlighted the movement's appeal to young, ambitious individuals who were initially hesitant to join due to political favors.

He emphasized that the members are driven, intelligent, and politically inexperienced, and will continue regardless of Sifuna's absence. The Senator acknowledged that the movement may face internal challenges, including efforts to weaken the group through financial incentives, but insisted that a committed nucleus of members would remain steadfast.

Onyonka also addressed recent violence during a Linda Mwananchi event in Homa Bay, describing it as a deliberate government plot to deter the movement. After public backlash, authorities permitted the group to conduct a peaceful rally.
