One Year of Sponsored Servo Development

Last September, the Servo project announced that Joshua Bowman-Matthews (@jdm) would dedicate part of his time to improving the contributor experience for the Servo project. This role, funded by monthly donations on OpenCollective and GitHub, marked the beginning of a one-year commitment.

Josh expressed his gratitude for the financial support Servo had received, stating that it allowed him to devote considerable time to the project he cared deeply about. He highlighted some of the highlights from his funded work, including diagnosing unexpected failures in other's pull requests and resolving numerous intermittent test failures that made merging pull requests more challenging for everyone.

He emphasized that his new role afforded him a healthy balance between time spent with his family and meaningful contributions to the Servo project. Additionally, he mentioned the importance of his work in making the project more accessible to others.
