One killed and two injured by Houthi drone debris in Saudi Arabia's Taif

A fatal incident occurred in Saudi Arabia's Taif governorate when a drone launched by Yemen's Houthis, intercepted and destroyed by Saudi forces, fell to the ground, causing severe injuries to two individuals. The death toll stands at one, belonging to a Yemeni citizen, while a critical condition was reported for a Saudi woman and a Pakistani resident.

The injuries resulted from debris from the fallen drone, which also damaged several buildings and vehicles in the region. This marks the first recorded fatality from Yemeni Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia since they resumed such assaults this month. The Houthis have intensified their assaults on Saudi Arabia amid a broader escalation involving Iran-aligned groups in the Middle East, prompting security alerts in several cities.

An attack earlier this week targeting an airbase in Khamis Mushait and Aramco facilities in Yanbu was denied by the Houthi military spokesman, who accused Saudi Arabia of spreading propaganda. The incident occurred under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, which Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan signed on August 7 to enhance military and defense cooperation, obligating any member to consider an attack on one as an attack on all.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, confirmed the country's commitment to the agreement but declined to disclose operational details about how it would counter Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia.
