Nigerian Army, Indonesia strengthen defence ties

Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, has emphasized the Nigerian Army's dedication to strengthening defense ties with Indonesia. In a statement shared by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, Shaibu highlighted the mutual benefits of the relationship, focusing on professional military education, sharing operational experiences, and engaging in multinational exercises.

Shaibu stressed that ongoing military-to-military engagement is crucial for building a professional, adaptable, and combat-ready force. He called for enhanced cooperation in counterinsurgency operations, emerging technologies, and other areas of mutual interest, with an aim to improve situational awareness, operational planning, and overall battlefield effectiveness.

Earlier, the Indonesian Defence Attaché to Nigeria, Colonel Aslam Setiawan, expressed Indonesia's commitment to deepening bilateral defense relations with Nigeria. Setiawan highlighted the value of professional exchanges and multinational exercises, such as Exercise Super Garuda Shield, in enhancing interoperability and sharing operational experiences.
