NHAI Launches OneTag On Rajmargyatra App, Allows FASTag Users To Switch Issuers Without New Tag

On September 17, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced the launch of a FASTag portability service called OneTag on its Rajmargyatra app. This service allows users to switch their FASTag issuer without having to obtain a new physical tag. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways stated that FASTag, with a penetration rate of over 98 percent and 13 crore users, has revolutionized Electronic Toll Collection in the country.

The Rajmargyatra Mobile App now features OneTag, which simplifies the process of changing FASTag issuers while retaining the existing physical tag. Users can log into the app, enter their vehicle registration number, and complete the verification process to switch issuers. Once the portability is successful, the existing FASTag ID linked to the vehicle registration number remains unchanged, and the previous issuer will close the FASTag wallet, refunding any available balance.

NHAI believes that OneTag will improve FASTag lifecycle management, reduce operational costs, and contribute to a more efficient FASTag ecosystem.
