Netflix's Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story explores the infamous 1892 hatchet murders of Lizzie Borden's father and stepmother. While Lizzie was acquitted, Ryan Murphy's series portrays her and her Irish maid, Bridget Sullivan (Vicky Krieps), as lovers and accomplices. However, there is no concrete evidence to support the romantic relationship between Lizzie and Bridget.

Lizzie, portrayed by Ella Beatty, was motivated to kill her family due to years of abuse and hatred. Bridget, an immigrant, was the only other person present at the crime scene.
