Kandra Mathieu, formerly known as the wife of retired NFL player Tyrann Mathieu, has revealed that she still struggles to comprehend the rules of football. Kandra, who married Tyrann in March 2026, shared with Business Insider that the intricacies of the sport go right over her head. Kandra, who is from New Orleans, met Tyrann at a clothing store in 2022 and they have since built a life together, raising their daughter.

Tyrann, known as "The Honey Badger," retired from the New Orleans Saints at 33, a decision he made after about a decade of playing. Kandra describes her husband's dedication to football, noting that they watched games together early in their relationship and she struggled to understand the sport. Despite her lack of knowledge, Kandra has grown to appreciate her husband's passion for football and admires the camaraderie she witnessed at games.
