Mumbai Police Officer, Friend Booked For Allegedly Assaulting Disabled Mantralaya Employee

A Mumbai police officer and his friend have been booked for allegedly assaulting and threatening a 41-year-old Mantralaya stenographer with a disability. The police officer, an Assistant Inspector, is also accused of sexually assaulting the complainant's wife in a separate case from 2023. The initial complaint was made by the complainant's wife to the Worli police station, leading to the registration of a case against the officer in 2023.

The accused officer, who is currently out on bail, was posted in Nanded but allegedly stayed in Mumbai and continued harassing his wife. On April 27, the complainant claims the officer, along with his friend Suhas Pawar, arrived at his house outside working hours, abusing him for his disability and threatening him and his wife with serious consequences if the wife did not withdraw her complaint.

The officer allegedly threatened to kill the complainant and enter his house to harm his wife if the complaint was not withdrawn. The incident was witnessed by several people and captured on CCTV. The complainant has sought protection under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and requested the officer's removal from Mumbai. Police are currently investigating the allegations.
