Mohammad Rizwan Challenges NCCIA Summons in Lahore High Court

Pakistani cricketers Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq have been summoned by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to appear before the Lahore High Court in connection with an alleged investigation into online betting and gambling activities. Rizwan has challenged the summons in court, questioning the NCCIA's jurisdiction and the nature of the investigation.

In his petition, Rizwan argued that the agency did not specify any particular allegation against him in the notice, stating that it only mentioned online betting and gambling without identifying the specific activity in which he was allegedly involved. Rizwan further contended that he repeatedly asked the NCCIA officials for clarification on the allegations during his appearance, but his questions went unanswered.

Consequently, Rizwan is requesting the Lahore High Court to suspend the agency's proceedings until his petition is decided. The NCCIA had also sent questionnaires to both cricketers, with a deadline of September 15 for responses. While Imam-ul-Haq has submitted his response, Rizwan has chosen to challenge the summons instead. Both players were recently returned from Pakistan's tour of England, after which the NCCIA investigation commenced.
