MOCI launches QR500 e-commerce licence for 194 business activities

Doha, Qatar - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has initiated a QR500 e-commerce licence for 194 approved commercial activities, as announced today. /p

This decision, issued under Ministry of Commerce and Industry Decision No. 25 of 2026, aims to bolster Qatar's e-commerce sector and provide entrepreneurs with a structured framework to engage in digital business. /p

The approved activities span a diverse range, including fashion design and related products, consulting services, digital design, AI consulting, photography, and translation services. /p

The new regulation is poised to stimulate e-commerce growth, foster entrepreneurship, and attract investments, while improving trust and transparency in digital transactions. /p

It is also intended to drive digital transformation and bolster Qatar's economic competitiveness, in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. /p

Businesses under the e-commerce licence must utilize an electronic domain ending in ".qa" or ".com.qa". Domain registration must be conducted through one of the eight approved service providers, overseen by the Communications Regulatory Authority. /p

Entrepreneurs can establish a new e-commerce company, conduct the approved business activities through their own websites, and apply electronically through the Single Window platform for a one-time licence fee of QR500. /p

The Ministry urged applicants to submit complete and accurate information and supporting documents when applying for the e-commerce licence. Once submitted, applications cannot be withdrawn or cancelled.
