Mithrl Raises $20M to Expand Deployment of Its Biomedical World Model Across Biopharma

Mithrl, a company founded by Vivek Adarsh, has raised $20 million in Series A funding led by Obvious Ventures to expand the deployment of its biomedical world model across the biopharma sector. Adarsh, a computer scientist, was motivated to create Mithrl after his grandfather died from acute kidney disease, a condition that lacked FDA-approved treatments 15 years ago. The company's mission is to "help R&D teams go from idea to IND, 50% faster."

Mithrl's artificial intelligence platform, Mithrl-1, comprises a proprietary biomedical world model and an agentic harness for optimizing routes, tokenization, and content orchestration. The platform integrates validated biology curated from peer-reviewed research and public datasets with agentic AI. This combination allows biopharmaceutical teams to combine data, AI agents, and proprietary data in their own environments, cross-referencing information across disciplines to surface non-obvious connections using verified data.

Mithrl's platform uses fewer compute resources compared to standard workflows, as demonstrated by a recent benchmark analysis that showed 45% fewer tokens used when running its infrastructure compared to running the same frontier base models without customization. Generated hypotheses include details about sources used and a confidence score, indicating the trustworthiness of the output.

The platform is deployed in each client's environment, harmonizing across existing frontier models, and extended using proprietary data and pipelines.

The company has already been used by several top-10 pharmaceutical companies, clinical-stage biotech companies, and genomics platform partners, including Elephas Biosciences.
