Mexican lab confirms Symphony’s plastic technology meets biodegradation standard

Mexico City, August 2023 - Symphony Environmental Technologies Plc has announced that a Mexican public research center has confirmed its high-density polyethylene plastic product, containing the company's d2w technology, meets Mexican Standard NMX-E-288-NYCE-2022. The testing, conducted by the Centro de Investigación en Química Aplicada (CIQA), demonstrated that biodegradation reached 89.5% at 180 days, surpassing the required 60% threshold for polyethylene products.

This marks the first independent verification by a Mexican institution of an oxo-biodegradable product's compliance with Mexican standards and the first study of its kind on high-density polyethylene. Key findings from CIQA's testing included significant molecular weight reduction and no adverse effects on plant growth or biomass.

Symphony's CEO, Michael Laurier, emphasized that the independent confirmation provides scientific evidence for manufacturers, retailers, and policymakers to confidently utilize the technology.
