KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 — Malaysian nationals in Saudi Arabia have been instructed to remain calm and adhere to the guidance provided by Saudi authorities following emergency alerts issued through the country's National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies. The Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah has also released a safety advisory, urging Malaysians to take necessary precautions such as staying indoors, avoiding open areas and crowded locations, and monitoring official announcements.

In the event of an emergency, Malaysians can reach out to the emergency number 911 in Makkah and Madinah or 998 for other parts of the Kingdom. Those in need of emergency consular assistance can contact the consulate general at +966 57 309 9589. The Malaysian community is strongly advised against panicking or spreading unverified information, and should rely solely on official instructions and information from official sources.

On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia issued emergency alerts warning of a "potential danger" in Jeddah, Makkah, and Taif due to heightened tensions with the Houthi group. A drone launched by the Houthi group was intercepted and destroyed by Saudi air defenses near Makkah, according to international media reports.
