Mahama directs inter-agency task force to submit roadmap to deal with drug trafficking in two weeks

President John Mahama has established an inter-agency task force to create a comprehensive roadmap aimed at curbing drug trafficking through Ghana's borders. The task force, tasked with developing the roadmap, will present its findings to the President within two weeks, as per the President's directive. This initiative stems from an urgent meeting chaired by Mahama, which gathered security chiefs and Ministers at the Jubilee House.

French customs seized nearly 3.9 tonnes of cocaine, valued at approximately €225 million, at the Dunkirk port on September 10. The cocaine, concealed within a plastic waste container, was reportedly en route to Antwerp, Belgium. French authorities have launched an investigation into the consignment and the suspected criminal network.

Ghanaian authorities are concurrently probing the shipment's departure from the country. Four suspects, including four officers from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), have been detained during ongoing investigations.
