Lewis Steele rules out record-breaking Liverpool move

Lewis Steele has dismissed the possibility of a record-breaking £130 million transfer to Liverpool for Bournemouth forward Rayan. On Anfield Index’s Media Matters podcast, Steele expressed skepticism about Liverpool's potential move for the Brazilian. Recent reports have linked Liverpool with Rayan, but no approach has been made yet.

The main issue, Steele pointed out, is Liverpool's spending in recent transfers. Less than a month ago, they spent £123 million on Barcola. Steele also believes Bournemouth's ambitions could make a January departure difficult. The club aims to provide a strong squad for their new manager, Marco Rose, who will lead them in European football.

Steele is confident Bournemouth intends to build a competitive team this season, making a January departure less likely. Additionally, the release clause of £130 million adds another layer of complexity to the potential transfer. While Liverpool's interest in Rayan is genuine, Steele doubts the club would pay the full amount. He also questioned Rayan's performance at the start of the season, comparing him to other Liverpool forwards like Victor Muñoz, Rio Ngumoha, and Cody Gakpo.

The discussion between Steele and Dave Davis on the podcast revealed that a January transfer for Rayan seems unlikely, with a more realistic possibility of a move occurring next summer.
