Leadership now belongs to young Abians not you – Gov Otti to political godfathers

Abia State Governor Alex Otti recently declared that leadership positions in the state now belong to young citizens, not political godfathers. This statement was made during a meeting at the Labour Party office in Umuahia, where Governor Otti received Ngozika Gladys Johnson Chukwunenye, the 2023 Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, into the Labour Party.

According to the governor, the next person to succeed him as governor will come from the pool of well-trained and equipped young individuals, not those selected by godfathers or political contractors. Otti explained that his detractors in the media are attacking him due to his refusal to agree to their proposals. He emphasized that his administration was elected by the will of the Abia electorate and not through the influence of godfathers, and that it would not be intimidated or swayed by any opposition.

"I am somebody that if you bring something that will not work, I say no! Sometimes when I say no, they will go back and be digging for something, but them go explain taya." The governor urged young Abians not to be afraid of opposition statements, stating that his administration has already revitalized Aba and Umuahia by addressing infrastructural decay and is now expanding development to the hinterlands. Governor Otti firmly stated, "Leadership now belongs to young Abians, not you."
