Joyce Bawah Mogtari urges African women to value their leadership journeys

Senior Presidential Advisor Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a close aide to President John Dramani Mahama, has emphasized the increasing influence of women in upholding fiscal responsibility, transparency, and robust governance within Africa's public sector. During a Facebook post following her involvement in an event organized by the Association of Women Accountants Ghana, the occasion coincided with the third-quarter meeting of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) in Accra.

Ms. Bawah Mogtari highlighted that this assembly, gathering women leaders, accountants, auditors, policymakers, and standard setters in accounting, underscored the significant contributions women bring to public financial management and governance.

She commented on the value of participating alongside distinguished women leaders, standard setters, directors, accountants, auditors, and policymakers from across Africa and beyond, noting how meaningful it was to witness their collective dedication. Ms. Bawah Mogtari reflected on her own path in leadership, stressing the necessity of ensuring Africa maintains a robust presence in discussions at the international level concerning standard-setting.

She expressed gratitude to the African Union Commission, the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, and IPSASB for facilitating the event, which she perceived as a crucial platform for deepening discussions on public sector accounting and governance.
