Jomoro Education Director commends Affo-Toffey for supporting over 1,000 needy SHS students

The Senate Chairman for Ogun Central, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, has encouraged students in the state to embrace education, asserting it remains the only passport to development. Salisu, who chairs the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, expressed concern over the perception among youths that education is a scam, despite its historical role in producing great individuals in society, particularly in Ogun State.

He attributed his dedication to education to the guidance he received from his parents 46 years ago, following his mother's death. During the annual SAS Omoyayi Educational Support Programme at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, Salisu, reaffirmed his dedication to advancing education, digital literacy, and ICT skills. He urged the students to view themselves as future senators, emphasizing the importance of focusing on their studies and not being deterred by the fear of being different.

The state's Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, echoed Salisu's sentiments, reiterating the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration's commitment to enhancing the quality of education in the state. Arigbabu further urged the senator to continue supporting learners to excel, highlighting that education serves as the most valuable empowerment one can receive.

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide, likened the senator's gesture to planting, asserting that its value would only be realized when the children achieve greatness in the future. Elemide emphasized that education provides individuals with 95 percent of what they need in life and called upon the students to utilize the opportunity effectively and reciprocate their success.

Comrade Noah Sewakanu, State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), emphasized the importance of judicious use of the materials provided to the students, stressing the need for them to study diligently and serve as excellent representatives of the state in the future.
