iPhone 18 Pro Launching Tomorrow With These 10 New Features

Apple introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models last week, maintaining similarities with the iPhone 17 Pro but featuring new enhancements. The 10 key upgrades in the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, now pre-orderable and set to launch on September 18, include a groundbreaking 2nm A20 Pro chip. This chip boasts 6 CPU cores, 7 GPU cores, and a 32-core Neural Engine, delivering up to 20% faster CPU performance and 40% enhanced graphics performance over the A19 Pro chip.

It also showcases a 40% faster sustained performance. The Pro models now offer three new colors: Burgundy, Black, and Glacier, replacing the discontinued Orange option. The rear aluminum and Ceramic Shield area have been fine-tuned for better color matching. The Dynamic Island now supports up to three concurrent Live Activities.

The primary 48-megapixel Fusion camera on both models features a variable aperture, ranging from ƒ/1.48 to ƒ/4.0, catering to improved low-light photography and enhanced depth of field. New Pro controls in the Camera app allow manual adjustments for shutter speed, white balance, and aperture, accompanied by a histogram feature. Both iPhone 18 Pro models now provide extended battery life, with the Pro Max claiming up to 15% more endurance than its predecessor.

Charging speed has been improved, with fast charging to 50% now taking just 15 minutes, down from 20 minutes. The Pro models incorporate Apple's second-generation C2 cellular modem for superior 5G and LTE connectivity. The C2 chip enhances AI-driven cellular quality and reliability, achieving faster uploads and 15% less energy consumption compared to the C1X modem.

In the U.S., the C2 chip supports mmWave 5G. Lastly, the Pro models now include a 2TB storage option, previously exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
