Important not to 'pigeonhole' Graham - O'Neill

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill has advised against pigeonholing Everton's Braiden Graham into a specific position. The 18-year-old, who started his career as a central striker, has been an unused substitute for the Toffees in three Premier League matches this season. Despite the club's scarcity of central strikers, manager David Moyes believes Graham has the potential to play off the bench in the Premier League.

O'Neill feels it's crucial not to limit Graham to a particular role, as he is highly adaptable and possesses exceptional technical skills. He suggests that Graham could excel as a winger, playing off the side or even as a number ten in a two-upfront formation, which is uncommon in modern football. The manager commended Graham's technical level and ability to score goals during training sessions.

Graham made his international debut during a friendly against France in June, but was not selected for the subsequent matches against Guinea. O'Neill emphasized that the decision to include players in the senior squad should be based on merit, rather than eligibility rules. He also acknowledged that players develop physically at different rates, and highlighted Graham's talent, technical skills, and left foot as key factors in his development.
