Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Oxford — and Jamie Beaton’s still studying

At 31 years old, Jamie Beaton, a New Zealand-born entrepreneur, has amassed a collection of prestigious academic qualifications from some of the world's leading universities. His journey began at Harvard University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a master's degree in applied mathematics in 2016. Beaton then pursued an MBA from Stanford University, a law degree from Yale University, and a doctorate in public policy from Oxford University, where he served as a Rhodes scholar, all before reaching the age of 28.

Undeterred by his impressive academic record, Beaton continued his pursuit of knowledge, earning at least 12 more advanced degrees from top universities, including the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, Princeton, Cornell, Dartmouth, King's College London, and Tsinghua University in Beijing. The subjects ranged from education entrepreneurship and technology to finance, healthcare policy, and economics, implementation science, war studies, and global affairs.

Currently, Beaton is enrolled in a master's program in data science at Brown University. Despite his busy schedule, he manages to juggle his academic pursuits alongside his role as the co-founder and CEO of Crimson Education, a college admissions counseling company valued at over $600 million. The company helps families secure admission to leading universities through multi-year programs that can cost between $30,000 and $200,000.

Beaton's academic journey was inspired by his family's emphasis on education. His mother, Paula Beaton, invested heavily in tutoring and academic coaching, making education a central aspect of their lives. As a high school senior, Beaton took more than twice the required number of courses and was accepted by 25 universities, including Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.

In addition to his academic achievements, Beaton has built a diverse network of professional connections. He joined 15 student organizations during his time at Harvard and established contact with billionaire hedge fund founder Julian Robertson, which eventually led to an early investment from Tiger Management in Crimson Education. His relentless drive and work ethic have earned him praise from his professors, including Yale Law School professor and author Amy Chua, who has written numerous recommendation letters for him.
