Gov Otti cautions new monarchs against shielding suspected criminals

Abia State Governor Alex Otti recently bestowed the Staff of Office upon two new traditional rulers in Uturu's Isuikwuato Local Government Area. Eze Chijioke Nweke of Ohaukwu Amarie and Eze Kelechi Ogbuehi of Amaokwe Achara were honored. In Umuahia, Governor Otti cautioned the monarchs to govern their subjects fairly and justly, emphasizing that suspected criminals should not be protected by traditional leaders.

Speaking through the Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uzor Nwachukwu, Governor Otti stressed that personal relationships should not sway their decisions. He insisted traditional institutions uphold justice and accountability, serving as models of leadership. Otti highlighted the monarchs' role in maintaining peace, resolving disputes, and fostering community-government cooperation, essential for sustainable development.

The Governor pledged to bolster traditional institutions and improve their welfare and status. Isuikwuato LGA Chairman Chinedu Ekeke urged the new rulers to shoulder their people's burdens and promote community welfare. The new monarchs vowed support for Governor Otti's administration, vowing to govern fairly.
