Google announces new experimental "CC" AI agent for families

Google has debuted a novel experimental Artificial Intelligence (AI) agent called CC, specifically designed for family use. This development is part of Google Labs' ongoing efforts to enhance customization and personalization, leveraging the company's extensive knowledge of its users' data when they are embedded within the Google ecosystem. CC is an evolution of Google's previous initiative, Gemini's Daily Brief, which provided daily action items and suggestions based on the information within a user's Google account.

The core objective of the new CC remains consistent with its predecessor; however, it has been adapted to serve as a shared resource for up to six family members. This AI agent operates under its own distinct Google account, enabling each family member the freedom to interact with it (or not) as they deem fit. A key feature of CC is its selective data access; it can only view emails from connected users if those emails are explicitly shared, with users able to designate specific email addresses as always accessible to the agent - for example, emails related to school scheduling.

Additionally, CC can accept content via email or Google Chat, and it possesses the capability to monitor a shared Google Drive folder. This could include invitations, documents, and other relevant content that family members upload to the folder. The versatility of CC allows it to serve as a comprehensive hub for family-related information and tasks, potentially streamlining communication and organization within a family unit.
